Meeting Milan (Italy)

My name is Alon Guterman, I
am 14 years old, I come from Givataim.
On the 5th day of our
trip (Monday) we went to visit the Italian middle school near to the
Institute of the Blind. We met other children in a classroom, the pupils
asked us a number of questions and we answered.
After that we went to the music
hall and we sang "Imagine" all together. During this time, we talked with
the Italian children, and especially with the Italian beautiful girls.

My name is Shahar and I am 12 years old.
I live in Ramat Gan, near Tel Aviv.

My name is Nitzan and I am 12 years old.
I live in Jerusalem.
I had my birthday on the day we arrived to Milan and I had a big surprise:
everybody sang for me and I got a beautiful present.
I want to come back to Italy because the hospitality was very good.
We got many presents :a ball ,shirts ,a bag and sweets.

When Guila told me we’ll stay in an
institute for the blind in Milan, I imagined a place that is nothing alike
the reality. I thought that it’ll be a small, old and modest place. Well,
like I mentioned in my last sentence: it’s noting alike!
When I first got here, I thought we
didn’t got the right place: it was big- like a palace, and not so modest!

I am Yotam and I visited the castle Sforzesco in
Milan.
It was wonderful .
After that we went to the computer lab .
But the thing I really want to tell about this is the food in Italy: the
Italian food is wonderful I like the gnocchi over all .

Meeting Italian Children
Stav Nisser
Yesterday we went to the junior high school in the institute. In this junior
high school there are regular children and some blind and visually impaired
children. We went to meet the children in the school. We divided into two
groups and each group went to another class. Our group went to a music
class. There was one blind child and one visually impaired child. It was
quite interesting and they asked us questions. Guila, one of the adult that
were with us gave me a text in braille that I should read to the blind
child. I gave the text to the blind child and she read part of it slowly.
After we went out of the classroom and went to a big room and we saw things
that the children made for us. We taught them a song and the Palestinians
children taught them a song. At the end the Italian children taught us a
very well known song that they sing and each one of them played for us a
melody. It was quite long and it was nice.

We and jews must live in peace to be always happy. We must love each
other very much . If we live in peace we can travel from place to place safely
without fear. |

Because we don't have peace we always cry for the people
who are killed. I want peace in Palestine and I will work to make this

Blind Children for Peace
We just came back from a one week stay in Milan, as guests of the "Istituto
dei Ciechi", a resource centre for the blind of the area. For the twenty
of us – 8 Israeli and 8 Palestinians blind and partially sighted
children and the 4 accompanying adults – it was a unique experience. It
was a very intensive week, in which through thrilling activities and
experiences we learned how to live together and communicate in a very
natural way. We experienced together a variety of activities, far from
our families and from our familiar daily routine. We visited the "Castello
Sforzesco" and the "Duomo" in Milan and we spent a whole day in Cremona,
mingling with the local Carnaval celebrations in the central piazza by
wearing masks and throwing confettis at each other. We also visited the
Stradivari Museum in Cremona and the Science Museum and Museum of the
Castello in Milan, in which we could touch the exhibits and learn a lot.
We were the hosts of and Italian school in which blind children are
integrated, and we exchanged information about our daily life. The
activities at the Institute were mainly writing in English – nobody's
mothertongue - about our visit, for our web site, thanks to the
assistive technology in the computer lab and preparing together pizza
and other delicious things and eating them together.
One of the most touching moments was when each of the children gave and
received a gift, brought from home, from his friend from the other
group.
