Letter of the "Al Shurooq" School childs
Dear Yvonne
How are you? I hope when you receive our letter to be all right and in a
good health. We want to thank you about what you did for us when we were in
Paris. We never thought we would visit Paris.
On Friday the second of July we reached Paris airport at seven o'clock in
the evening, and when we saw you and Paula waiting for us, we were very
happy. After we met we took the bus around the city, we saw the house of the
president of France and a lot of other beautiful things. We arrived at the
Valentin Hauy Institute later in the evening; we had dinner, settled in our
rooms and went to bed early in order to wake up early for an exciting next
day.
The next day we walked a long way till we reached the Eiffel Tower. Once we
got there it started to rain! We took the lift up and saw many shops in the
tower. We looked down and saw the people very small. Then we had our lunch
at the Champs-ֹlysיes. In the afternoon, we took the boat on the river
Seine. On our way, we saw the tunnel where Princess Diana had died in that
horrible car crash a few years ago.
The boat trip lasted for about one hour; it was interesting to see the
various monuments from a different angle. After that we went to visit the
monument of the Unknown Soldier.
One child of each group was given the honor to rekindle the flame of the
Unknown Soldier, it was wonderful to participate in such an event.
On Sunday, we were fortunate to be taken to Euro-Disney. It was great fun,
something we had never expected to experience. Although it was pouring all
day, we particularly enjoyed the mountain train and star wars.
On Monday, we were invited to visit the mayor of Paris at the City Hall. He
warmly received us and hoped for a better future for all. He also told us
many interesting stories about the history of the City Hall.
On Tuesday, we visited the zoo and a school for guide dogs. In the last
afternoon each group prepared a dish for supper, we made a fruit salad and a
vegetable salad. It was great fun. It was also special day for us
particularly because Rosanna joined us from Milan and we all love her very
much.
Wednesday morning we went to visit Miniature France and the Chateau de
Versailles. We were very impressed with what we saw. Sadly we did not have
enough time to visit the beautiful gardens, which are supposed to be the
best part of the Chateau.
On our last evening in Paris, a press conference had been organized and some
reporters interviewed us about the project and what we thought about being
together with Israeli children.
Lots of love from the children at Al-Shurooq
